Bayreuther Lifted Of Interim Tag And Named Head Swim Coach

As announced by Gordon College Director of Athletics Jason Linders today, Jen Bayreuther has been lifted of the interim tag and promoted to become the head coach of the men's and women's swim program. Bayreuther was named the interim head coach for the 2024-2025 season in August of 2024.

"I am so excited to officially be back next year," said Bayreuther. "We are creating something with Gordon Swimming and I look forward to continuing to grow the program. I couldn't do any of this without the help of my husband and co-coach Peter Bayreuther. We love working together, creating a vision for a team that strives for academic and athletic excellence, deepening their love for Jesus and each other. We are not just building a team, we are building a family. A community that people want to be a part of. It's not just about fast swimming. It's about having the humility to put others above yourself, knowing that by lifting someone else up you rise as well."

An alumna of Gordon College, Bayreuther returned to the pool this past September to step in and lead the Fighting Scots' swim program and immediately made a positive impact from the first practice. During opening weekend, the blue and white saw top-10 times with wins on both the men's and women's sides with home victories over Regis and Elms. Gordon continued to improve their times with another pair of top-10 times before a huge performance in early December at the Regis Invitational where the Scots had 48 season best times and seven new top-10 program times.

With just over half of a season under her belt, Gordon began to tear up the record books with their first record being shattered on January 18 to spark nine more for a total of 10 on the season. Overall, Gordon's record on both sides were the best in recent history with a record of 9-2 for the women and 4-2 for the men. Additionally, the Scots capped off their 2024-2025 campaign with third place finishes at the Metropolitan Collegiate Championships

"After a season marked by competitive excellence, Christ-centered mentorship, and steady growth, we are proud to remove the interim tag and officially name Coach Jen Bayreuther as our head swim coach," said Linders. "Coach Jen and her staff have made a tremendous impact on our swim program over the past year. We are confident she will continue to lead a program that embodies our commitment to academic success, athletic excellence, and the spiritual development of our student-athletes."

Continuing to build upon one of the most successful seasons in recent memory, Bayreuther along with assistant coach Peter Bayreuther have a recruiting class of 14 for this coming year, bringing the size of the team to one of the largest in program history.

Looking ahead, practices will begin in September for the Fighting Scots with their first meet taking place in October for the 2025-2026 season.
