FITCHBURG, Mass.- The Gordon College volleyball team notched a pair of 3-0 victories Saturday afternoon, blanking Fitchburg State and Elms.
 
GORDON VS. FITCHBURG STATE
THE BASICS:
Score: Gordon 3, Fitchburg State 0
Records: Fighting Scots (6-3) | Falcons (0-6)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Gordon captured the opening set 25-16 to seize a 1-0 lead.
• The Fighting Scots rolled past the Falcons 25-8 in the second frame to extend their advantage to 2-0.
• Gordon posted a 25-16 decision in the third to secure the straight-sets victory.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

• Evey Hansen (Dillon, Mont.) tallied a team-high eight kills.
• Annie Zimmerman (Austin, Texas) finished with seven kills.
• Haley Hutzler (Long Island, N.Y.) collected 10 digs and six kills.
• Vivian Castano (Yarmouth Port, Mass.) dished out 15 assists and Annika Schmitt (Quincy, Mass.) registered 13 assists.
• Amanda Pierce (Johnston, R.I.) notched eight digs and a team-best four service aces.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Gordon constructed a 1-0 lead in the match with a 25-13 win in the first frame.
• The Fighting Scots cruised to a 25-11 victory in the second set to widen the gap to 2-0.
• Gordon edged Elms 25-20 in the third to clinch its second sweep of the afternoon.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

• Haley Hutzler (Long Island, N.Y.) paced the squad with nine kills, 10 digs, and six aces.
• Annie Zimmerman (Austin, Texas) added seven kills, 10 digs, and four service aces.
• Allison Trogdon (Williamsburg, Pa.) posted a career-high seven kills to go with eight digs.
• Annika Schmitt (Quincy, Mass.) finished with 25 assists and seven digs.
• Amanda Pierce (Johnston, R.I.) also recorded 10 digs.
