WENHAM, Mass.- The Gordon College men's soccer team posted a 3-1 victory over Johnson & Wales Saturday afternoon on The Quad to wrap up Homecoming Weekend.
THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Johnson & Wales jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, finding the back of the net just over a minute into the contest. Ethan L'Italian headed in a corner kick delivered into the box by Christopher Vargas.
- Gordon pulled even in the 19th minute as it benefitted from an own goal.
- The Fighting Scots seized a 2-1 edge in the 59th minute. Sylver Godines (New Braunfels, Texas) bagged his second marker of the year with a right-footed finish as Benny Simpson (Evergreen, Colo.) picked up his second assist.
- The home side tacked on its third goal of the game in the 71st minute to widen the gap to 3-1. Nathan Starzl (Gadsden, Ala.) drilled in his second tally of the season as he buried a corner kick off the boot of Jake Scruton (Georgetown, Mass.).
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Will Goodling (Charlotte, N.C.), Santiago Hernandez (Evergreen, Colo.), and Sylver Godines (New Braunfels, Texas) all registered two shots on the day.
- Goalkeeper Riley Calemmo (Pocono Mountain, Pa.) chalked up a pair of saves in his sixth start.
- Gordon outshot Johnson & Wales 8-6 in the match and finished with a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks earned.
