Men’s Basketball Falls to Roger Williams, 87-77

WENHAM, Mass.- The Gordon College men's basketball team dropped an 87-77 decision to Roger Williams Wednesday evening at the Bennett Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Gordon erased an early six-point deficit and constructed a 39-32 advantage with 2:20 left to play in the first half as Ryan Brooks (Dudley, Mass.) knocked down a mid-range jumper.
  • The Hawks closed out the opening frame with four unanswered points to trim the halftime margin to 39-36.
  • Roger Williams chalked up seven straight points to begin the second stanza and vault ahead 43-39.
  • After the guests expanded their lead to 11 points, the Fighting Scots battled back to narrow the gap to 72-69 with 5:13 remaining in regulation.
  • The Hawks outscored the home side 15-8 in the final five minutes to earn a pivotal conference victory.
     
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • Alex Daniel (Nolensville, Tenn.) poured in a team-high 16 points.
  • Ryan Brooks (Dudley, Mass.) posted his fourth double-double of the year, scoring 13 points and hauling in a career-best 17 rebounds.
  • Isaac Jarvis (Concord, N.H.) finished with 12 points and four boards.
  • Bruce McGuire (Bristol, R.I.) added 12 points and three steals off the bench.
  • Gordon concluded the contest with a field-goal percentage of 47.7% while draining 8-of-23 from long distance.
  • Roger Williams shot 45.5% from the floor and 28.9% from three-point territory.
  • Ashton Leclerc led the visitors with a game-high 24 points while Finn Miller notched 18 points and seven rebounds.
