WINTER HAVEN, Fla.- The Gordon College softball team suffered an 8-6 setback to Penn State New Kensington before rolling past Buena Vista 18-1 to wrap up action at THE Spring Games Friday.
GORDON vs. PENN STATE NEW KENSINGTON
THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Gordon plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning to grab a 2-0 edge.
- New Kensington produced three runs in the top of the second to take a 3-2 lead.
- The Lions added a run in the third and fourth innings to push their advantage to 5-2.
- The Fighting Scots chalked up a run in the home half of the fourth to cut the deficit to 5-3.
- New Kensington tacked on one run in the top of the fifth to reclaim a three-run cushion, 6-3.
- Gordon generated three runs in the bottom of the frame to level the contest at 6-6.
- The Lions tallied twice in the sixth inning to capture an 8-6 lead.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Makayla Falco (Warwick, R.I.) led the squad with two hits, one run scored, and a stolen base.
- Emily Hutchins (Kennebunkport, Maine) drove in three RBIs, scored two runs, and landed one base knock.
- Isabella Rivera (Concord, N.H.) finished with one hit and two runs scored.
- Kassie Snowman (St. Albans, Maine) made her first career start in the pitcher's circle and tossed 2.1 innings. Emilie Adelmann (Upland, Calif.) worked 4.2 innings of relief.

THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Gordon rattled off seven runs in the top of the first inning to construct a 7-0 lead.
- Buena Vista got on the board in the bottom of the first, scoring once to slice the deficit to 7-1.
- The Fighting Scots tacked on five runs in the third to widen the margin to 12-1.
- Gordon added six runs in the fourth to stretch its advantage to 18-1.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Makayla Falco (Warwick, R.I.) posted four RBIs, four hits, and three runs scored.
- Emilie Adelmann (Upland, Calif.) notched three RBIs, three runs scored, and a pair of hits.
- Isabella Rivera (Concord, N.H.) recorded three bases knocks, one RBI, and two runs scored.
- Caoimhe Wernsing (Brockton, Mass.) blasted a grand slam for her first home run of the season and finished the game with four RBIs, two runs scored, and one base hit.
- Katie Melendy (Easton, Mass.) spun a complete game in the pitcher's circle and finished with one strikeout.
