WATERVILLE, Maine- The Gordon College men's lacrosse team suffered a hard-fought 12-11 setback at Thomas Saturday in non-conference action.
THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Gordon clung to a one-goal lead after the first quarter of action, 4-3.
- The Terriers outscored the Fighting Scots 4-0 in the second frame to sport a 7-4 advantage at the half.
- Both teams tallied three goals in the third as Thomas owned a 10-7 edge heading into the final period.
- Gordon chalked up three unanswered goals to tie the contest at 10-10 as Finn Smith (Windham, Maine), Jackson Wright (Cazenovia, N.Y.), and Kennedy Opie (Natick, Mass.) each found the back of the net.
- After Thomas took an 11-10 lead with 4:11 remaining in regulation, the Fighting Scots responded with a man-up tally by Kennedy Opie to pull even at 11-11 with 2:18 on the clock.
- The home side buried the go-ahead goal with 1:51 left to play in the fourth quarter and kept the guests at bay to eke out a 12-11 win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Kennedy Opie (Natick, Mass.) paced Gordon with three goals.
- Wyatt Lake (Basking Ridge, N.J.) scored two goals and dished out a team-best three assists.
- Jackson Wright (Cazenovia, N.Y.) and Ryan Arthur (Manorville, N.Y.) both netted two goals.
- Aidan Walsh (Scituate, Mass.) won 18-of-26 face-offs and scooped up a team-high nine ground balls.
- Cullen Davey (Wolfeboro, N.H.) registered six ground balls and a pair of caused-turnovers.
- Senior netminder CJ Veader (Bristol, R.I.) finished with eight saves on the afternoon.
- The Fighting Scots concluded the contest with 48 shot attempts while Thomas fired 27 shots.
