WENHAM, Mass.- The Gordon College softball team earned a 9-6 win over Lasell Wednesday afternoon at the Gordon Softball Field before game two of the doubleheader was cancelled due to inclement weather.
 

THE BASICS:
Score: Gordon 9, Lasell 6
Records: Fighting Scots (8-11) | Lasers (5-12)


HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Gordon plated three runs in the bottom of the first inning to jump ahead 3-0.
• Lasell responded with four runs in the top of the second to seize a 4-3 edge.
• The Lasers added two runs in the third to extend the margin to 6-3.
• The Fighting Scots produced a pair of runs in the home half of the third inning to trim the deficit to 6-5.
• Gordon scored twice in the fourth to reclaim the lead, 7-6, as Isabella Rivera (Concord, N.H.) clobbered a two-run home run to drive in Caoimhe Wernsing (Brockton, Mass.).
• The hosts tacked on two runs in the fifth inning to stretch the gap to 9-6.

 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

• Isabella Rivera (Concord, N.H.) notched three hits, two RBIs, and two runs scored.
• Makayla Falco (Warwick, R.I.) posted two base knocks, two RBIs, one run scored, and a stolen base.
• Caoimhe Wernsing (Brockton, Mass.) finished with two hits and two runs scored.
• Emily Graham (Amesbury, Mass.) added two base hits and a run scored.
• Kassie Snowman (Saint Albans, Maine) pitched 1.2 innings and registered two strikeouts in her third start of the spring. Katie Melendy (Easton, Mass.) worked one frame of relief and Emily Graham (Amesbury, Mass.) tossed 4.1 scoreless innings while racking up five strikeouts.
