CAMDEN, N.J.- The Gordon College men's rowing team launched off their spring racing circuit at the Knecht Cup regatta in Camden NJ with two commanding wins in the Lightweight 4+ and the Varsity 4x+, as well as a grand final appearance in the DIII 4+ and the Varsity 1x. 

Saturday's heats kicked off with Ethan Gossman winning his heat comfortably in the men's single. This was followed by a third place finish from the varsity four of Gossman, Levi Lacoss, Russ Eschenbrenner, and Oliver Brown, coxed by Ivy Davis. Their time was sufficient to send them to the grand finals the following day. 

Sunday, Gossman finished fourthth in the Grand Final for the men's single, coming up short to scullers from Oklahoma City and Dominican University. He quickly turned around to stroke the lightweight four, joined by Sam Frazier, Caleb Peterson, Shaw Freeman, and Oliver Brown, who crossed the line a comfortable 12 seconds ahead of the silver medalists from Case Western Reserve. The men's varsity DIII crew then faced off in their final, making the program's first appearance in the final for this event, where they finished fifth overall, falling behind two Case Western Reserve crews, Ithaca, and Stockton. 

The last race of the day was the men's varsity coxed quad, a new event in the collegiate scene. The Gordon crew, comprised of Caleb Peterson, Oliver Brown, Silas Jeanes, and Shaw Freeman (coxed by Frazier) opened up a quick and comfortable lead against the second place US Merchant Marine Academy, who ultimately fell back and crossed the line a full minute after the Scots. 

The Scots race next on April 18 against Amherst College on Merrimack College's course in Methuen, MA.
