Baseball Cruises to Non-Conference Win Over Plymouth State

WENHAM, Mass.- The Gordon College baseball team rolled to a 16-5 victory over Plymouth State Wednesday at J. Tec White Field.
 

THE BASICS:
Score: Gordon 16, Plymouth State 5
Records: Fighting Scots (10-18) | Panthers (3-15)


HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Plymouth State tallied one run in the top of the third inning to take a 1-0 lead.
  • Gordon responded with a run in the bottom of the third to knot the contest at 1-1.
  • The Panthers chalked up one run in the fourth to claim a 2-1 edge.
  • The Fighting Scots countered with one run in the home half of the frame to level the score at 2-2.
  • Gordon manufactured six runs in the fifth inning to capture an 8-2 advantage.
  • The hosts tacked on three runs in the seventh to widen the gap to 11-2.
  • Plymouth State plated three runs in the top of the eighth to narrow the margin to 11-5.
  • The Fighting Scots produced five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to clinch their second-consecutive win.
     
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • Cam Wilbur (Dighton, Mass.) posted three hits, three RBIs, and one run scored.
  • Blake King (Easton, Maine) finished with three RBIs, three runs scored, and a pair of base hits.
  • Gabe Fales (Middleton, Mass.) notched hits, four runs scored, two RBIs, and two stolen bases.
  • CJ Massella (Blue Bell, Pa.) chipped in with two hits, two RBIs, two runs scored, and two stolen base.
  • Brett Moore (Gloucester, Mass.) threw five innings and recorded four strikeouts. Matt Pancurak (Medford, N.J.) pitched two innings of relief and fanned two batters. Jacob Bettencourt (Attleboro, Mass.) worked one inning out of the bullpen.
