WENHAM, Mass.- The Gordon College softball team traded victories with Worcester State Wednesday in a non-conference doubleheader, falling 17-4 before prevailing 8-4.
GAME ONE
THE BASICS:
Score: Gordon 4, Worcester State 17
Records: Fighting Scots (9-17) | Lancers (15-12)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Worcester State opened the contest with five runs in the top of the first to captured a 5-0 advantage.
- Gordon got on the board in the bottom of the first inning, scoring once to cut the deficit to 5-1.
- Both sides chalked up three runs in the second frame before the Lancers tallied three runs in the third and six runs in the fourth inning.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Makayla Falco (Warwick, R.I.), Avie Hernandez (Draper, Utah), and Peyton Heitzmann (Champlin, Minn.) notched one hit and one RBI.
- Emily Hutchins (Kennebunkport, Maine), Emilie Adelmann (Upland, Calif.), and Emily Graham (Amesbury, Mass.) all finished with one base hit and one run scored.
- Emily Graham (Amesbury, Mass.) started in the pitcher's circle and tossed two innings. Katie Melendy (Easton, Mass.), Kassie Snowman (St. Albans, Maine), and Emilie Adelmann (Upland, Calif.) all pitched in relief.
GAME TWO
THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The home team erupted for eight runs on eight hits in the bottom of the first inning to claim an early 8-0 lead.
- Worcester State plated one run in the third and one run in the fourth inning to trim the gap to 8-2.
- The Lancers picked up a pair of runs in the top of the seventh frame to narrow the margin to 8-4.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Isabella Rivera (Concord, N.H.) posted two hits, two RBIs, and a run scored.
- Caoimhe Wernsing (Brockton, Mass.) drove in two RBIs to go with one hit and one run scored.
- Emily Graham (Amesbury, Mass.), Katie Melendy (Easton, Mass.), and Avie Hernandez (Draper, Utah) all chipped in with one base knock, one RBI, and a run scored.
- Kassie Snowman (St. Albans, Maine) spun her first complete game of the season and finished with two strikeouts.
