SPRINGFIELD, Mass.-  The Gordon College baseball team suffered a pair of setbacks at Western New England Saturday, falling 13-0 and 11-1.
 

GAME ONE
THE BASICS:
Score: Gordon 0, Western New England 13
Records: Fighting Scots (13-20, 5-9 CNE) | Golden Bears (16-18, 8-6 CNE)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Western New England scored twice in the bottom of the first inning to establish a 2-0 lead.
• The Golden Bears produced five runs in the third to widen the gap to 7-0.
• The home side tallied three runs in the fourth inning to stretch the margin to 10-0.
• Western New England tacked on a run in the fifth before plating a pair of runs in the sixth inning.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

• Cam Wilbur (Dighton, Mass.) and Tyler Wilson (Lynn, Mass.) both finished with two hits.
• James Coats (East Northport, N.Y.) and CJ Massella (Blue Bell, Pa.) each chipped in one hit.
• Kevin Whalen (Lynn, Mass.) pitched four innings and struck out three batters. Hunter Simpson (Prospect, Conn.) worked two innings of relief.

Score: Gordon 1, Western New England 11
Records: Fighting Scots (13-21, 5-10 CNE) | Golden Bears (17-18, 9-6 CNE)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Western New England manufactured four runs in the first inning to capture a 4-0 lead.
• The Golden Bears added a run in the second to push their advantage to 5-0.
• The hosts plated two runs in the third to stretch the margin to 7-0.
• Gordon got on the board in the top of the sixth, scoring one run to slash the deficit to 7-1.
• Western New England responded with three runs in the home half of the sixth frame to claim an 11-1 lead.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

• Adam Gracie (Swansea, Mass.) posted one RBI and one hit.
• Blake King (Easton, Maine) finished with one base knock and a run scored.
• Caleb Stuart (Chelmsford, Mass.) tossed three innings on the mound before Matt Pancurak (Medford, N.J.), Jacob Bettencourt (Attleboro, Mass.), and Casey Watson (Chester, N.H.) all made relief appearances.
