WENHAM, Mass.- The Gordon College baseball team capped off the 2026 campaign with a pair of setbacks to Hartford Saturday afternoon at J. Tec White Field, falling 13-6 and 6-5.
SENIOR DAY CELEBRATION:
Prior to the matinee contest, the Gordon College baseball program recognized its three graduating seniors:
Brett Moore,
Brayden Seaman, and
Hunter Simpson. The Fighting Scots also honored
Jack Birtwell and presented his family with a framed jersey.
GAME ONE
THE BASICS:
Score: Gordon 6, Hartford 13

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Hartford captured a 1-0 edge in the top of the first inning.
- Gordon manufactured three runs in the second to claim a 3-1 lead.
- The Fighting Scots added a pair of runs in the third inning to extend their advantage to 5-1.
- The Hawks plated one run in the fourth and two runs in the fifth frame to cut the deficit to 5-4.
- Gordon chalked up a run in the bottom of the sixth to push its lead to 6-4.
- Hartford generated eight runs in the seventh inning before tacking on a run in the eighth to grab a 13-6 advantage.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Carter Shin (Burlington, Ont.) notched two hits and two RBIs.
- Tyler Wilson (Lynn, Mass.) posted two hits, two runs scored, and an RBI.
- CJ Massella (Blue Bell, Pa.) finished with two base knocks, one run scored, and one stolen base.
- Gabe Fales (Middleton, Mass.) started on the mound and tossed 4.1 innings. Matt Pancurak (Medford, N.J.), Jacob Bettencourt (Attleboro, Mass.), and Hunter Simpson (Prospect, Conn.) all pitched in relief.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Gordon plated a pair of runs in the second inning to seize a 2-0 edge.
- The Fighting Scots scored once in the third to widen the margin to 3-0.
- Hartford erupted for six runs in the top of the fifth inning to jump ahead, 6-3.
- The home side tallied two runs in the eighth to pull to within a run, 6-5.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Carter Shin (Burlington, Ont.) recorded two hits and one run scored.
- Darren Clarke (Hopkinton, R.I.) drove in two RBIs and landed one hit.
- CJ Massella (Blue Bell, Pa.) finished with two runs scored, one RBI, and a base knock.
- Aaron Ferreira (Fall River, Mass.) added one RBI, one hit and a run scored.
- Caleb Stuart (Chelmsford, Mass.) hurled 4.1 innings and racked up six strikeouts. Josh Thiero (Piscataway, N.J.) worked 2.2 innings and fanned three batters in his second relief appearance of the spring. Brayden Seaman (Methuen, Mass.) tossed two scoreless innings in his fourth relief outing.
