John Whallon

Newly appointed Head Coach Johnny Whallon joined the Gordon Men's Soccer staff as an assistant in the summer of 2011 after four years as the head boy's soccer coach at The Stony Brook School on Long Island, New York.

While at the helm of Stony Brook (2007-2010), Whallon built a program with a strong reputation, scheduling some of the best high school teams in the state and several regionally and nationally-ranked opponents.

Prior to his tenure at Stony Brook, he served as a graduate assistant in 2006 alongside current Gordon Head Coach Jake DeClute at Wheaton College (Ill.). That year the Thunder advanced to the Division III National Championship game and finished the season ranked second in the nation. The following spring, Whallon took the reins of the Wheaton men’s club soccer team which played several top-ranked club programs in the nation, including the University of Michigan.

Originally from the Boston area, Whallon graduated from Wheaton College (Ill.) in 2006 with a BA in communications after playing for the Thunder in each of his four years. During his studies, Whallon also attended Westmont College (Santa Barbara, Calif.) for a consortium semester in 2005. A high school standout at Bedford High School, he then went on to attend Phillips Andover Academy as a post-graduate in 2001.

During the summer off-season, Whallon serves on staff at several elite soccer camps around the country including those at Georgetown University and the University of Notre Dame.

He currently holds the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Premier Coaching Diploma.
