Stephen Heintz ’19 returned to the Gordon College Men's Soccer program as the assistant coach in the spring of 2020. Upon graduating from the College in 2019, Heintz coached club soccer in Charlotte, N.C. while also working in sports ministry. A two-year member of the Fighting Scots’ men’s soccer squad and senior captain, Heintz made an immediate impact on the Scots’ back line, guiding his squad to two Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship appearances, ultimately capturing the CCC Title in 2018. The defenseman started in all of the Scots’ 20 matchups in 2017, contributing to nine shutouts, earning him a spot on the All-CCC Second Team. During the 2018 Championship run, Heintz netted a pair of goals (one of which was a game-winner), chipped in one assist, and again was instrumental in nine shutouts. For his efforts Heintz was named to the All-CCC First Team before being further recognized regionally (Third Team) as a top defender by the United Soccer Coaches NCAA DIII Association.
