Athletic Director Jonathan Tymann has announced the hiring of Regan Denham as Gordon's new head women's lacrosse coach effective August 2014. Denham comes most recently from Division I Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va.
Â
Prior to serving as the first head coach in Liberty history (2009-2013), Denham headed up the Springfield College squad from 2008-2009, leading the Pride to a 12-6 record and a 5-1 mark in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC). She also coached at Missouri Baptist University from 2006-2008 and led the team to a winning record in just its second year as a varsity program. As an assistant, she served one-year stints at Averett University (2005-2006) and Drew University (2004-2005), helping guide Drew to a 14-6 overall mark en route to an NCAA DIII "Sweet 16" appearance.
While a student athlete at Messiah College, Denham was a two-time team captain, breaking eight school records and four times earning Middle Atlantic All-Conference honors. She graduated in 2004 with a bachelor's degree in history and went on to obtain a graduate degree in physical education from Missouri Baptist in 2008.
Â
"With experience both playing and coaching in Christian higher education, Regan understands the distinct mission of faith-based institutions and, specifically, the mission of Gordon College," said Tymann. "Together with her extensive knowledge of the game, I believe she is poised to take our women's lacrosse program to new heights, and we are excited to have her join our team."
Â
Denham will be inheriting a program that went 12-5 overall, 6-2 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference during the 2014 campaign.
