Gulls Score Twice to Down Field Hockey

BEVERLY, Mass. —Endicott sophomore Emylee Wood (Kensington, N.H.) buried a pair of goals in the first half to lead the Gulls to a 2-0 victory over Gordon College on Tuesday evening in a CCC matchup at North Field.
 
After 10-plus minutes of scoreless action, Wood put Endicott ahead, 1-0, at the 14:59 mark when she finished her second chance in front of the cage for her fourth goal of the season. The Gulls fired off three-straight shots, which were all turned away by Gordon goalkeeper Shannon Hicks (Scarborough, Maine), before Wood finally broke through for the first tally of the contest on the team's fourth attempt on cage.
 
Wood proceeded to add to the gap on the scoreboard in the 31st minute of action with a shot from the right wing of the circle. After senior Morgan Bresnahan (South Burlington, Vt.) executed a perfect insert to Ashleigh Allen (Glastonbury, Conn.) at the top of the circle, Allen turned to her right and found Wood wide open for a scoring attempt which she sniped into the back of the cage for her second goal of the matchup, and fifth of the season.
 
Defensively, Endicott held Gordon to two shots in the first half, and seven total in the contest to secure the 2-0 conference victory over the Fighting Scots. 

Hicks registered a game-high 14 saves in the loss (5-12). The junior has compiled ten or more saves in six games this season. Her season-high is 15, which came against Saint Joseph's (Maine) on October 12. Junior Bailey Balmer (Perkasie, Pa.) notched a defensive save at the 57:04 mark of the contest to keep the deficit at 2-0. Balmer leads the team and ranks second in the CCC with eight defensive saves this season.
