WENHAM, Mass.—Gordon Men's Tennis won its second straight match to begin the 2015-16 season, beating previously undefeated Regis College 7-2 at the Brigham Athletic Complex.
 
Playing for the first time as a team in nearly three weeks, Gordon did not miss a beat to move to 2-0 on the year.
 
Zach Hall (Sugar Land, Texas) and Mason Casady (Santa Barbara, Calif.) dictated momentum for the Fighting Scots at the top with an 8-1 win at first doubles. The duo also pitched identical 6-1, 6-1 wins at first and second singles.
 
Nate Lookwhy (Westborough, Mass.) and Peter Godwin (Manchester, Conn.) teamed up to take an 8-2 win at second doubles to help Gordon build an early 2-1 lead. Regis' Austin Nace (Sarasota, Fla.) and Nick Hildreth (Harvard, Mass.) came from behind to notch the Pride's first point of the day at third doubles.
 
Hall, Casady and Lookwhy were the first three players off the court in singles play to clinch the victory for the Fighting Scots.
 
 Joe Daugherty (Norfolk, Va.) and freshman Kristopher Marineau (Auburn, N.H.) won at fifth and sixth singles respectively. Daugherty, a senior, staved off Cam Charbonneau (Guilford, Conn.) in the first set 7-5 before doubling up his opponent in the second. Marineau dropped his first set 3-6, but fought back for a 6-4 second set. The rookie survived in a third-set tiebreaker 10-8 to get his first collegiate victory.
 
Regis' only singles point came from junior Jarid Polley (North Reading, Mass.). Polley bounced back from a first-set loss to Godwin by taking the second frame in a close tiebreak. The veteran did enough in the super tiebreaker to win 10-6 over the Gordon sophomore.
 
The Pride fall to 3-1 on the season, but will look to get back on track next Monday at home against Johnson & Wales. Gordon has one match remaining on its fall slate as they head down to Clark on October 21.
