HENNIKER, N.H.—Gordon Field Hockey doubled its season win total in a matter of 24 hours as the Scots exploded for seven goals in a 7-0 triumph over New England College. The offense surpassed its season totals in every stat category and sophomore
Emily Allcroft (Haydenville, Mass.) put on a show with two goals and three assists.
Allcroft got things going in the 12
th minute with an unassisted score off her own putback. The forward was initially stuffed by NEC goalkeeper Michaela Clark, but the persistent Allcroft's second effort put Gordon on the board. She added her second goal of the game in the 16
th minute off an assist from
Collette Newcombe (Rowley, Mass.).
Newcombe got in on the action just a few minutes later as Allcroft returned the favor to setup the Gordon senior. It was Gordon's first goal not scored by Allcroft or
Marirose Brown (Melrose, Mass.) this season.
Carissa Fraser (Seaford, N.Y.) also scored in the 22
nd minute, just 45 seconds after Newcombe, to blow the game wide open. The goal marked Fraser's first since her freshman season in Wenham.
Senior
Lydia Ellsworth (West Chester, Pa.) scored her first collegiate goal less than 10 minutes into the second half and Gordon never looked back.
Karli-An Gilbert (Scarborough, Maine) and Newcombe rounded out the scoring for the Scots in the 7-0 win.
Shannon Hicks (Scarborough, Maine) and
Anastasia Landman (Cheswick, Pa.) combined to make three saves for the Fighting Scots.
Gordon starts its second go through the Commonwealth Coast Conference when they travel to Nichols on Saturday at 11 a.m.
