Flowers the Highlight at New England Championships

Women's Results / Men's Results
SPRINGFIELD, Mass.—Senior Zak Flowers (Fountain Valley, Calif.) broke the school record twice in the weight throw and earned All-New England status with a fifth-place finish in the event. Flowers toss of 16.07 meters trumped his season-high by more than two feet.

The men's 4 x 400 relay qualified for New England's a couple of weeks ago and finished 16th overall. Asher Gray (Sudbury, Mass.), Colin Ponzani (Avon, Conn.), Neal Olson (Acton, Mass.) and Noah Terry (Westhampton Beach, N.Y.) grabbed a time of 3:40.19, which was 16 seconds behind the first-place finishers.

The women competed at Smith College in Northampton, Mass., where the Fighting Scots competed in four events. Corrine Previte (Danvers, Mass.) finished a little below her seeded time in the 400m and grabbed 30th overall. Leanne Beedle (Bethany, Conn.) finished 19th in a crowded 600m field with a time of 1:48.86.

Gordon's two relay teams finished 18th and 19th overall as well.

Flowers and Previte will compete in the ECAC Championships in two weeks.
