SALEM, Mass—Playing on the North Shore for the first time since October didn't slow down the red hot Fighting Scots, defeating Salem State 9-0 at Rockett Arena on Monday afternoon. Gordon eclipsed its win total from the 2014 season in just its eighth match of the year, as the Fighting Scots improve to 8-0.
Zach Hall (Sugar Land, Texas) and Mason Casady (Santa Barbara, Calif.) each earned decisive victories at first and second singles and first doubles. Hall and Casady defeated Matt Mogren (Newburyport, Mass.) and Conner Erickson (Hubbardston, Mass.) 8-0 at first doubles before Hall earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory at first singles. Casady followed with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Erickson.
Michael D'Antuono (Mapleville R.I.) and Peter Godwin (Manchester, Conn.) won 8-4 at second doubles while James Hawn (Southborough, Mass.) and Joe Daugherty (Norfolk, Va.) earned a win at third doubles, 8-4 over Kevin Lam (Salem, Mass.) and Luke Hodgkins (Winthrop, Mass.)
Godwin earned a hard fought win over John Didonato (Triton, Mass.) at fourth singles, winning 6-4, 6-7 (2-7), 7-6 (7-3). Hawn, Daugherty, and Dan Christensen (Attleboro, Mass.) all won easily at third, fifth and sixth singles respectively in straight sets.
Salem State travels to Endicott College this Thursday. Gordon College hosts the Anchormen of Rhode Island College this Thursday for a 4:00 p.m. match.
