QUINCY, Mass. — Gordon traveled to take on Eastern Nazarene in Commonwealth Coast Conference action and posted a .273 hitting percentage in its 3-0 win.
The Fighting Scots (12-10, 3-4 CCC) took the first set 25-16. They recorded 15 kills and a .345 hitting percentage. Gordon started the set with a 13-6 run. The Lions (10-15, 1-5 CCC) scored five straight points to cut the lead to two points. The Fighting Scots scored nine out of the next 11 to take a 23-14 lead. Eastern Nazarene cut the lead down to eight points, but kills by
Mackenzie Hinds and
Amanda Snyder closed out the set for Gordon.
Gordon won the second set 25-17 as they held the Lions to a .190 hitting percentage and forced eight errors. The teams traded points back and forth to start the set. The Fighting Scots took a 10-5 lead on a couple of errors by Eastern Nazarene and two aces by
Meghan Hokanson. The Lions scored three in a row to cut the lead to two points before Gordon 12 out of the next 16 to take a 22-12 lead. Eastern Nazarene responded by scoring four in row to cut the lead to six. The Fighting Scots scored two out of the next three points to take the set.
In the third set, Gordon recorded 14 kills and held the Lions to a .030 hitting percentage as they took the set 25-19. Eastern Nazarene scored the first four points before the Fighting Scots scored five in a row to take a one-point lead. They scored eight out of the next 16 to take a 13-12 lead. Gordon scored six straight to stretch the lead to seven. The Lions responded by scoring seven out of the next ten to cut the deficit to three points. The Fighting Scots sealed the win and the sweep with one kill by Hinds and two kills by Hokanson.
Hinds led the team with 11 kills and also had three digs. Snyder recorded ten kills and seven digs. She now has over 300 kills on the season and is currently ranked second in the CCC in kills.
Ashlyn Gergins tallied 30 assists and four digs.
Jenny Curtiss led the team with eight digs.
Gordon next travels to play Rivier and St. Joseph in a tri-match Oct. 21. They will take on the Raiders at 1 p.m. and the host Bluejays at 3 p.m.
