BIDDEFORD, Maine — Gordon traveled to take on the University of New England in CCC action and recorded a .170 hitting percentage in its 3-1 loss.
The Fighting Scots (14-11, 3-5 CCC) won the first set 25-13 as they posted a .268 hitting percentage and only allowed six kills from the Nor'easters (10-13, 4-4 CCC). Gordon started the set on a 6-1 run. The University of New England cut the lead to two points by scoring six out of the next nine points. The Fighting Scots outscored them 16-6 to take the set.
The Nor'easters took the second set 25-17 as they held Gordon to a .075 hitting percentage. The teams traded points back and forth until the Fighting Scots took a 14-12 lead on two errors by the University of New England. The Nor'easters scored six points in a row to take an 18-14 lead before scoring seven out of the next ten to win the set.
The University of New England won both the third set and the fourth set 25-19 as they recorded hitting percentages of .333 and .241 respectively. They forced nine attack errors and had a combined seven aces and four blocks.
Amanda Snyder posted her team-leading tenth double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs.
Mackenzie Hinds recorded ten kills and seven digs.
Jenny Curtiss led the team with 20 digs and tied her career-high with four aces.
Ashlyn Gergins tallied 37 assists, eight digs, and a career-high five kills.
Gordon next hosts CCC opponent Nichols Oct. 26 at 7 p.m.
