WENHAM, Mass. — No. 2 seed Gordon hosted No. 7 seed Nichols in the quarterfinals of the CCC Tournament and held them to nine shots in its 2-0 victory.
The Fighting Scots (12-5-1) got on the board quickly as
Ian Burkhart received a pass from
Josh Beveridge and put the ball past the keeper in the fourth minute. Beveridge added another goal in the sixth minute off a pass from Troiani to make it a 2-0 game. They held the Bison (7-9-2) to six shots with two being on goal that were both stopped by
Wesley Sprague.
In the second half, Gordon added another nine shots with four being on goal. Their defense held Nichols to three shots with none being on goal. Paul Sickinger's shot in the 87
th minute hit off the crossbar to seal the shutout and the victory.
Gordon will host No. 3 seed Western New England in the semifinals of the CCC Tournament Oct. 31 at a time to be determined. The Fighting Scots played the Golden Bears in the final game of the regular season and came away with a 2-1 win.
