Scots Fall to Pride On Senior Day

WENHAM, Mass. — Gordon hosted Regis in non-conference play for Senior Day and recorded 32 attack errors in its 3-2 loss.

The Fighting Scots (15-12) won the first set 25-16 as they recorded 16 kills and a .419 hitting percentage. They started the set on a 10-4 run before outscoring the Pride (12-15) 15-12 to take the set.

Regis won the second set 25-13 as they had 12 kills and a .478 hitting percentage. They started off the set with a 7-2 run. Gordon cut the lead to three points by scoring three out of the next four points before the Pride outscored them 17-8 the rest of the way to win the set.

Gordon won the third set 25-19 as they forced Regis into 12 attack errors. They started the set by scoring seven out of the first eight points. The Fighting Scots then went on a 16-14 run to take a 23-15 lead. The Pride scored four points in a row to cut the lead to four points before Gordon scored two straight on a kill by Mackenzie Hinds and a bad set by Regis to take the set.

The Pride won the fourth set 25-19 to as they forced eight attack errors by the Fighting Scots to send the game to the fifth set.

In the fifth set, the teams traded points back and forth until they were tied 8-8. Gordon scored the next point before Regis scored five in a row to take a 13-9 lead. Amanda Snyder had a kill to cut the lead to three, but the Pride closed out the set and the match as they forced an attack error and Katryna Veasey recorded a kill.

Hinds posted her eighth double-double of the season as she had 21 kills and ten digs. Meghan Hokanson recorded nine kills, four digs, and a block assist. Jacque Fitzgerald tallied seven kills and three block assists. Ashlyn Gergins recorded her sixth game with 40 or more assists as she had 44 assists along with seven digs and two kills.

The Fighting Scots will be the No. 7 seed in the CCC Tournament and will face No. 2 seed Endicott in the quarterfinals Oct. 31 at a time to be determined.  Gordon hosted the Gulls earlier in the season with Endicott winning the match 3-0.
