WENHAM, Mass. — Gordon's men's tennis team played in the North Shore Invitational co-hosted by Gordon and Endicott. Four pairs of players played in the tournament for Gordon.
In each round of the tournament, each pair played another pair in two singles matches and a doubles match. The pair that won two out of three matches advanced to the next round. Teams that lost in the quarterfinals played again in the consolation round.
Mason Casady and
Nathan Lookwhy paired up and played in Flight A where they took on team from Colby in the quarterfinals. Casady fell to Scott Altmeyer 8-0 and Lookwhy fell to Sumukh Pathi 8-1 in singles play. Colby also won the doubles match 8-5. The pair took on Endicott in consolation play. Chris Kirkpatrick defeated Casady 8-3 while Lookwhy defeated Justin Toler 8-0 in singles play. Gordon won the doubles match 8-6 to win the consolation match.
Jonathan Frink and
Michael D'Antuono paired up and played in Flight B where they took on a team from Holy Cross in the quarterfinals. Frink defeated Matt Murphy 8-3 while Andrew Vroman defeated D'Antuono 8-4 in singles play. Gordon won the doubles match 8-6 to advance to semifinals. The pair took on Babson in the semifinals. Brandon Rosenbluth defeated Frink 8-5 and D'Antuono defeated Cameron Gruss in singles play. Babson won the doubles match 8-3 to advance to the finals where they would later defeat Colby to win Flight B.
Will Jeffreys and
Peter Godwin teamed up and played in Flight C where they took on a team from Southern New Hampshire in the quarterfinals. Ricardo Marreiros defeated Jeffreys 8-0 and Jeremy Reichentahl defeated Godwin 8-4 in singles play. Southern New Hampshire won the doubles match 8-5 and advanced all the way to the finals where they lost to Colby. Jeffreys and Godwin took on Bates in the consolation round. Owen Greenwood defeated Jeffreys 8-4 and Dylan Davis defeated Godwin 8-4 in singles play. Bates won the doubles match 8-7 (7-5).
Kristopher Marineau,
Matt McEathron, and
Caven Bell teamed up and played in Flight C where they took on a team from Colby in the quarterfinals. Garrett Reiter defeated Kris Marineau 8-1 and Jonathan Hallal defeated McEathron 8-1 in singles play. Colby won the doubles match 8-1 to advance to the semifinals. They would later advance to the finals round and defeat another team from Colby to win Flight D. The team took on a combined team from Southern New Hampshire and Endicott in the consolation round. Marineau defeated Faizan Khalid 8-5 and McEathron defeated Chris Leighton 8-3 in singles play. The SNHU/Endicott team won the doubles match 8-4, but Gordon won the round because they won both singles matches.
The Fighting Scots next host Merrimack Oct. 12 at 4 p.m.
