CHICOPEE, Mass. — Gordon opened the 2017-18 season on the road at Elms and shot 50 percent from the field in its 85-66 win.
The Fighting Scots (1-0) started off the game with a 9-8 run. The Blazers (0-1) took a six-point lead with a 14-7 run. The teams traded the lead back and forth for most of the rest of the first half.
Parker Omslaer and
Josh Crutchfield scored in the last 40 seconds of the half to give Gordon a 38-36 lead going into halftime.
In the second half, the Fighting Scots started off the half with a 31-14 lead to stretch the lead out to 19 points. Elms cut the lead to 14 points with four and a half minutes left, but Gordon closed out the game with a 11-6 run to seal the win.
Garrisson Duvivier posted a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds. He also recorded three steals, three assists, and two blocks.
Eric Demers scored 18 points with four assists and three rebounds.
Jake Haar recorded ten points with three rebounds.
The Fighting Scots next travel to take on Salem State in non-conference play Nov. 21 at 7:30 p.m.
