Scots Fall to Vikings

SALEM, Mass. — Gordon traveled to take on Salem State in non-conference action and shot 43.1 percent from the field in its 79-77 loss.

The Vikings (3-1) started the game with a 21-15 run for an early six-point lead. The Fighting Scots (1-1) responded by going on a 22-11 run to take a five-point lead. Salem State scored a three-pointer with 25 seconds in the half to make it a 37-35 game at halftime.

Eric Demers scored 15 points in the half and also had one rebound and one steal. Garrisson Duvivier scored six points and pulled in 11 rebounds and also recorded three steals.

In the second half, the Vikings scored nine points if the first two minutes to take a seven-point lead. Gordon regained the lead with a 12-4 run in the next five minutes of action. Salem State responded by outscoring the Fighting Scots 22-10 to take an 11-point lead with 5:18 left. Gordon scored 13 points in the next four minutes to cut the lead to three points. The Fighting Scots' defense held on the next possession by stopping two shots by the Vikings to regain possession with 32 seconds left. They missed two three-pointers in the last 13 seconds of action before Jaren Yang sank a three-pointer off a pass from Jake Haar to tie the game at 77-77. Tyreik McCauley made a shot with one second left on the clock to seal the win for Salem State.

Demers finished with 17 points, two assists, two rebounds, and two steals. Yang scored 11 points and dished out three assists. Duvivier recorded his second straight double-double with 17 rebounds and ten points. He also dished out four assists and also had three steals.

Gordon next travels to take on the University of New England in its CCC opener Nov. 29 at 7:30 p.m.
