HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C.—Gordon Men's Tennis rounded out a 4-1 trip to the Palmetto State by splitting its final two results. The Scots dropped a 7-2 match to a talent Millsaps squad on Wednesday before bouncing back for a 9-0 sweep of Greenville (Ill.) on Friday morning.

The Fighting Scots enter their New England schedule at 7-3 on the season.

Gordon labored a bit at the top two doubles spots against the Panthers, winning 8-5 and 8-4 respectively. The Scots' third duo had an easier time with an 8-0 effort.

Mason Casady (Santa Barbara, Calif.) ended his time down south at 9-1 between singles and doubles, with his only loss coming in doubles against Millsaps 8-6. The Scots' top player shook off a slow start against Greenville's Nate Wieland, dropping the first set 6-3, before blanking him in the second. Casady won the race to 10 in the third-set tiebreak.

The rest of Gordon's lineup won in straight sets.

Peter Godwin (Manchester, Conn.) won 6-1, 6-0 at sixth singles to bring Gordon within a point of clinching the match before Nate Lookwhy (Westborough, Mass.) finished if off with a 6-2, 6-2 win at two.

Mike D'Antuono had the most complete effort with a dominant 6-0, 6-0 win at fourth singles.

Gordon ended its trip dropping just nine individual matches between its five contests. Rookie
Eric Kim (La Crescenta, Calif.) was the only other player to register a win against Millsaps with a three-set win a the fifth flight.Â

The Scots have a tough test right off the bat in Commonwealth Coast Conference play with league favorite Nichols in Dudley next Saturday at 11 a.m.
