WENHAM, Mass.—Gordon fought off the elements and the Golden Bears of Western New England to roll to its seventh straight win. The Fighting Scots handed WNE a 6-0 loss in Commonwealth Coast Conference competition split between the Brigham Athletic Complex and the Bass River Tennis Club on Wednesday.

Not even a rain delay could slow down the red hot Scots, who improved to 14-4 and 5-1 in the CCC. Western New England dipped to 6-8 overall and 1-5 in the conference.

The Fighting Scots commanded big wins in all three doubles flights, including an 8-0 win by Mason Casady (Santa Barbara, Calif.) and Nate Lookwhy (Westborough, Mass.) at the top spot. Mike D'Antuono (Mapleville, R.I.) and Eric Kim (La Crescenta, Calif.) won handily 8-3 at two, while Jonathan Frink (La Crescenta, Calif.) and Peter Godwin (Manchester, Conn.) pulled off an 8-2 result at three.

With the match temporarily halted and moved to Bass River due to rain in Wenham, Gordon was able to win the first three singles matches on open courts to take the match.

Godwin was a 6-1, 6-0 winner over Griffin Arnold (Meriden, Conn.) at the fifth flight for Gordon's fourth point of the evening. Frink officially gave his team the win with a 6-4, 6-1 battle with Justin Kohut (South Windsor, Conn.) at two, while Casady finished things off with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over newcomer David Kalmer (Slingerlands, N.Y.) at number one.

All other matches went unfinished due to the match being played to decision.

The Fighting Scots eye another big conference match with a trip to Endicott on Saturday. The Gulls are the only team Gordon has not beaten under the tenure of their current coaching staff. Western New England will look to run the table in its final three matches to earn a conference playoff bid.
