WORCESTER, Mass. — Amanda Snyder had 23 kills in Gordon's 3-2 win against Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
The Fighting Scots (1-0) dropped the first two sets 25-19, 25-23 to the Engineers (0-1). Gordon rallied back to win the third and fourth sets 25-21 and 26-24 respectively.
In the fifth set, Gordon went up 5-3 on an ace by Snyder and a couple of errors by WPI. They stretched the lead to five points on kills by Snyder,
Mackenzie Hinds,
Jacque Fitzgerald, and
Meghan Hokanson. After building up a 14-8 lead, the Fighting Scots gave up four consecutive points before sealing the win with a kill by Hinds.
Snyder led the team in kills and also had three aces and two block assists. Hinds recorded 18 kills and had two aces.
Ashlyn Gergins tallied 45 assists and 11 digs.
Jenny Curtiss recorded 30 digs and four assists.
Gordon next plays in the Worcester State Invitational tomorrow Sept. 2 at 11 a.m. against Clark.
