Scots Fall to Hawks 2-1 in Overtime

WENHAM, Mass. — Gordon took on Roger Williams in Commonwealth Coast Conference action and fell 2-1 in their Homecoming game Saturday morning.

The Fighting Scots (2-5, 1-4 CCC) put three of their first six shots on goal in the first half. The Hawks (4-5, 2-3 CCC) only attempted one shot in the first 30 minutes of the game. They had four penalty corners in the last five minutes of the half, but Gordon held them to only one shot attempt that went wide of the net.

In the second half, the Fighting Scots got on the board in the 41st minute as Sabrina Jandreau scored off a cross-field pass from Emily Allcroft. Roger Williams tied the game in the 58th minute with a goal by Gabby Masciarelli. Both teams had a chance to break the tie late in the game as Allcroft's shot in the 67th minute was saved by Mya Lunn. The Hawks had four penalty corners in the last ten minutes of the game, but were held without a shot to send the game to overtime.

Roger Williams started off overtime with two shots in the first two minutes of the period. They kept the pressure on in the 74th minute as they put two shots on goal in a ten-second span that were saved by Julia Altman. They received a penalty corner and used that to set up the game-winning goal by Marykathryn Slattery which was assisted by Alex Coppinger in the 75th minute. Gordon was held without a shot in overtime.

The Fighting Scots next host Endicott Oct. 3 at 4 p.m.
