WENHAM, Mass. — Gordon played Salem State for its Homecoming game on Saturday morning and won 3-1.
The Fighting Scots (10-6) took the first set 25-18. The Vikings (8-7) built up an early 8-4 lead and then Gordon scored five straight points to take a one-point lead. Salem State scored two straight points to take a two-point lead. The Fighting Scots scored six straight points to stretch the gap to six points. They finished the set with a 9-8 run to win the set.
Salem State took the second set 28-26. Gordon started the set with a 13-3 run before giving up six straight points. The Vikings committed an attack error before scoring another five straight to tie the game at 14-14. The teams traded points back and forth until they were tied again at 25-25. Salem State scored three out of the next four points to win the set.
Gordon won the third set 25-15 and the fourth set 25-10. They had 12 kills and posted a .647 attack percentage in the fourth set to seal the win.
Mackenzie Hinds recorded her sixth double-double of the season as she recorded 16 kills and 11 digs.
Amanda Snyder also had a double-double with 14 kills and 13 digs.
Jamie Tafoya contributed nine kills, four aces and three digs.
Ashlyn Gergins tallied 36 assists, four digs, and three aces.
Jenny Curtiss led the team with 18 digs.
The Fighting Scots next host Endicott Oct. 4 at 7 p.m.
