WENHAM, Mass. — Gordon hosted Nichols in Commonwealth Coast Conference play at the Bennett Center and allowed 16 three-pointers in its 97-74 loss.
The Bison (16-3, 10-2 CCC) started the game with a 14-6 run for an eight-point lead in the first five minutes of action. They stretched the lead out to 24 points with a 34-17 run. The Fighting Scots (12-7, 8-4 CCC) were able to cut the lead down to 16 points at halftime with a 10-2 run to make it a 50-34 game. Nichols shot 50.0 percent from the floor and 43.8 percent from behind the arc in the first half.
Eric Demers scored 17 points and dished out two assists in the first half.
Garrisson Duvivier scored seven points and grabbed three rebounds.
In the second half, Gordon cut the lead down to ten points with a 13-7 run. The Bison sealed the win by outscoring the Fighting Scots 40-27 the last 16 minutes of the game. Nichols made nine three-pointers and shot 44.7 percent from the floor in the second half.
Demers finished with 29 points, three assists, two rebounds, and two blocks. Duvivier scored 12 points, pulled in 11 rebounds, and five blocks.
Jaren Yang led the team with five assists and also scored five points.
Duvivier is now ranked 11
th in school history with 1,242 career points. He is 55 points behind Gene Fitzgerald (1958-1962) for tenth place.
Gordon next hosts Wentworth in CCC action Jan. 30 at 7:30 p.m. The Fighting Scots won the first game of the season series against the Leopards 77-66 on the road.
