Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Seahawks Too Much For Scots In CCC Tilt

Gordon College Field Hockey traveled to Newport, Rhode Island to take on the Seahawks of Salve Regina in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play this afternoon and were dealt a 9-2 loss to drop to 4-12 (1-8 CCC) on the season.

The Seahawks got off to a fast start when Eliza Timms (Fr./Agawam, Mass.) capitalized on a penalty corner in the sixth minute to put Salve ahead, 1-0.  Almost exactly two minutes later, Gordon's Sabrina Jandreau tied the game with her ninth goal of the season, but Salve's offense was too hot for the Scots, tacking on three more goals to close out the first half leading the way, 4-1.

Unfortunately for the Scots, the second half proved to be a similar story as Timms collected her second goal of the game in the 49thminute to break the seal of scoring for the Seahawks, who netted four more unanswered goals to stretch the lead to a comfortable 9-1 by the 60th. Cara Goudie inched the Scots ever so slightly closer off a penalty stroke at 65:17, but that was all Gordon could muster offensively as Salve hunkered down on defense to nail down the win.

The Scots are back at it on Wednesday, October 17 as they host non-conference New England College at 4 p.m.
