Gordon Men's Tennis didn't let a little rain ruin the day, relocating its home match to the nearby Manchester Athletic Club to hand Division II Saint Michael's College a 5-4 loss in the final matchup of the fall season.
To start the match,
Matt McEathron and
Patrick Monahan made quick work of the Purple Knights' Colby Antonacci (So./Bolton Valley, Vt.) and Ivan Llona (Fr./Shelburne, Vt.) at No. 2 doubles, cruising to an 8-2 decision to pace the Fighting Scots' start. Facing a more contested duel,
Nathan Lookwhy and
Kristopher Marineau also booked a win at No. 1, edging out Dan Foley (Sr./Wellesley, Mass.) and Max Allen (Sr./Dennis, Mass.), 8-6, to send Gordon into singles action with a slight 2-1 lead.
Lookwhy and Marineau continued their winning ways in solo play, booking 6-2, 6-0 and 7-5, 6-4 straight-set wins over Foley and Allen at Nos. 1 and 2, respectively, to inch the Scots closer to their first win of fall competition. Though taking an extra frame to get it done, McEathron followed suit with a 6-1, 3-6, 6-0 result at No. 3 to secure the match win for Gordon.
With the fall season behind them, the Scots will continue their preparation for their spring campaign which kicks off at home against non-conference Eastern Nazarene College on March 27 at 3:30 p.m.
