The Fighting Scots traveled to western Massachusetts to take on the Golden Bears of Western New England in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's volleyball action tonight, coming from behind to earn an exciting 3-2 victory and improve to 14-12 overall (3-4 CCC).
Mackenzie Hinds paced the night with 17 digs and 16 kills for Gordon, while
Amanda Snyder was right behind with 10 digs and 12 kills andÂ
Ashlyn Gergins recorded 41 assists.
On the other side, Cassandra Holmes (Jr./Ellington, Conn.) and Ashley Matthews (Jr./Salem, N.H.) posted 14 and 13 kills, respectively, and Jenna McCormack (So./Nashua, N.H.) notched 39 assists.
The Golden Bears garnered the early momentum on the day with a 7-0 run to pace their eventual 25-22 win in game one before the Scots dueled their way to an 18-8 lead in game two en route to the eventual 25-14 finish. With WNE on the verge of the match win holding a 2-1 advantage after taking a tight game three, 25-23, the Scots rallied back to dominate the fourth, 25-11, and went on to secure the match win with a hard-fought 15-12 W in the final frame.
Up next for the Scots is a non-conference head-to-head with host Regis College at 7 p.m.
