Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Gulls Protect Nest With 3-0 Sweep Over Gordon

With the Battle of the North Shore staged in front of a roaring crowd at MacDonald Gymnasium tonight, Endicott Women's Volleyball delivered a command performance to defend their conference unbeaten streak with a 3-0 sweep (25-18, 25-18, 25-14) over the visiting Fighting Scots. The loss moves Gordon to 9-9 overall (1-3 CCC), while Endicott improves to 12-6 (3-0 CCC).

The Gulls came out of the gate with gusto, using an early three-point lead as momentum en route to an eventual 25-18 win behind the standout play of senior outside hitter Emma Mancini (Lynnfield, Mass.), who registered her 1,000th career kill on the final point of the game.

Not going down without a fight, the Scots opened game two with a 3-0 run and dueled their hosts to a 16-16 deadlock before the Gulls pulled away for another 25-18 win. That rally proved as close as the Scots would get to a comeback, however, as Endicott rode an early 10-point run in game three to an eventual 25-14 win to close out the match and preserve their unblemished CCC record.

Pacing the Scots' effort were McKenzie Hinds and Amanda Snyder who recorded seven kills apiece, while Ashlyn Gergins notched 24 assists.

Gordon continues its march through conference play as it welcomes the University of New England to campus on Tuesday, October 9 at 7p.m.
