Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Roadrunners Speed Past Scots At Westfield Tourney, 82-66

On the road at Westfield State University tonight for the Rick Martin–Holiday Inn Express Men's Basketball Tournament, the Fighting Scots conceded an 82-66 loss to fellow visitors, Ramapo College, to drop their first game of the 2018-19 campaign.

Eric Demers led the effort for Gordon with 17 points, while Garrisson Duvivier added 15 points, 10 rebounds and Noah Szilagyi netted 12.

Forward Rob Lewis (Sr./Scotch Plains, N.J.) proved tough to handle with 35 points and 16 rebounds to set the pace for the Roadrunners, who remain unbeaten at 3-0 overall. Kashaun Barnes (Sr./Toms River, N.J.) and Andre Morgan (Jr./Long Island, N.Y.) also contributed a solid 15 and 12 points, respectively, to the win.

The Scots (1-1) will look to get back in the win column as they meet Clarkson in the consolation final at 1 p.m. tomorrow. Ramapo will face host Westfield State in the championship game slated for 3 p.m.

How It Happened:
  • Tied at 28 all with less than five minutes to play in the first half, the Roadrunners used a quick 10-0 run– fueled by a pair of three pointers from Barnes– to build the lead to 44-34 at the half.
  • Szilagyi hit a three-pointer to open the second half and briefly trim the lead to seven, but that was as close as the Scots would get as Ramapo added a 12-1 burst midway through the second half to boost the lead to as many as 20 points en route to the decisive 16-point victory.
  • Difference-makers for the Roadrunners were 44 points in the paint and 22 points from the bench. They also shot an impressive 50.8 percent from the floor (75.0 percent from behind the arc), while in contrast Gordon was 36.4 percent from the floor (29.2 percent (7-24) from distance).
Beyond The Box Score:
  • Garrison Duvivier is leading the CCC with 16.0 rebounds per game.
  • Duvivier, Demers, and Szilagyi are the only Scots to score in double digits in both games this season.
  • Tonight's 66 points is the Scots' lowest total since they scored 56 against the University of Redlands a season ago. Their 2017-18 season average was 86.1 ppg.
