WENHAM, Mass. — Gordon hosted Maine Maritime in its season opener at the Brigham Athletic Complex and put 35 shots on goal in its 28-4 win.

The Fighting Scots (0-1) scored first 16 seconds with a goal by Nick Palandijian. The Mariners (0-1) tied the game a minute later with a goal by Alex Grant-Roy. Gordon responded by scoring six more goals in the first quarter to make it 7-1. They added 11 more goals in the second quarter to make it 18-2 at halftime.

Nico Manganiello and Austin Early both scored five goals in the first half. Palandijian scored three goals. In total, eight different Fighting Scots scored in the half and they also converted 7-of-10 extra-man opportunities.

Gordon kept up the offensive output in the second half as they scored seven goals in the third quarter and three in the fourth while holding Maine Maritime to two goals in the half.

Early led the team with six goals and four assists. Manganiello scored five goals and dished out two assists while Palandijian scored three goals. Billy Biegun won 19 faceoffs and led the team with 11 ground balls.

Jay Gallipo made five saves in the first three quarters and Lars Githmark recorded one save in the fourth quarter.

The Fighting Scots next travel to take on Salem State in non-conference action at 7 p.m.
