WENHAM, Mass. — Gordon hosted Western New England in Commonwealth Coast Conference action for Senior Day as
Eric Demers tied his career-high of 14 made field goals in Gordon's 84-77 victory to split the season series.
The Fighting Scots (14-7, 10-4 CCC) started the game with a 27-15 run in the first ten minutes of action for a 12-point lead. The Golden Bears (9-12, 5-9 CCC) cut the lead down to three points with a 13-4 run. Gordon built the lead back up to ten with a 17-8 run to make it a 48-38 game at halftime.
Demers scored 20 points in the first half.
Garrisson Duvivier scored nine points and grabbed five rebounds.
Graham Tienhaara scored six points and pulled in five rebounds.
Jake Hart scored four points and grabbed four rebounds.
In the second half, the Fighting Scots built their lead up to 16 points at the 16:44 mark. Western New England went on an 18-2 run to tie the game at 62-62 with 10:35 left in the half. They gained a 74-73 lead with 2:38 left. Gordon sealed the win by outscoring them 11-4 the rest of the way. Demers scored six of the Fighting Scots last 11 points.
Demers finished with a career-high 41 points as he shot 14-of-27 from the floor, six-of-12 from behind the arc, and seven-of-eight from the foul line. He scored a combined 68 points in his two games against Western New England this season. Duvivier posted his 15
th double-double of the season as he scored 16 points and grabbed 15 rebounds. Seniors
Jaren Yang, Hart, and Tienhaara combined to score 17 points, grab 12 rebounds, and dish out three assists.
Gordon next travels to play Endicott in CCC play Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m. The Fighting Scots defeated the Gulls 105-98 in overtime in the first game of the season series at home.
