BEVERLY, Mass. — Garrisson Duvivier scored a season-high 31 points to lead Gordon to an 85-77 overtime victory over Endicott in Commonwealth Coast Conference play at MacDonald Gymnasium. Gordon swept Endicott in the season series for the first time since the 2013-14 season.
The Gulls (15-7, 10-5 CCC) started the game with a 20-12 run for an eight-point lead. The Fighting Scots (15-7, 11-4 CCC) tied the game at 31-31 with a 19-11 run. Gordon outscored them by two points the last 6:25 of the first half to take a 46-44 lead into halftime.
Duvivier scored 16 points and grabbed four rebounds in the first half.
Eric Demers scored 11 points and recorded one steal.
Jaren Yang scored six points, pulled in three rebounds, and dished out three assists.
Endicott started the second half with a 23-6 run to take a 15-point lead with 9:09 left. They built the lead up to 16 points with 4:44 left. The Fighting Scots responded by scoring 16 straight points and tied the game with a jumper by
Josh Ribeiro with 15 seconds left. They forced a missed shot by Keith Brown with two seconds left to send the game to overtime.
Gordon kept up the momentum from the end of the second half by scoring seven straight points in the overtime period. Vinny Clifford made a three-pointer to cut the lead to four points before a jumper by Duvivier brought the lead back up to seven. Rob O'Brien sunk two free throws to make it a four-point game with 47 seconds left. The Fighting Scots sealed the win with two free throws by Yang and a fast break layup by Demers in the last 32 seconds of the period. Duvivier outscored the Gulls 7-5 in overtime and also grabbed four rebounds.
Duvivier finished with his 16
th double-double of the season as he had 17 rebounds to go along with 31 points. He also tied his career-high with six blocks. Demers scored 25 points, pulled in two rebounds, and handed out two assists. Yang led the team with six assists while also scoring ten points and grabbing seven rebounds.
Duvivier is now tenth in school history with 1,304 career points. He is one point behind Nathan Uebelhoer (1988-92) for ninth place.
Gordon next travels to play Eastern Nazarene in CCC action Feb. 10 at 3 p.m. The Fighting Scots won the first game of the season series 81-59 at home.
