AUBURNDALE, Fla. — Gordon played Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in their fifth game of the RussMatt Florida Invitational at Lake Myrtle Park and had six hits in its 7-0 loss.
The Engineers (1-3) scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning for a 3-0 lead. They added another run in the fourth inning to stretch the lead to four runs. RPI added two more in the sixth and one run in the seventh. The Fighting Scots (1-5) left one runner on base in five different innings, including two in scoring position.
Travis Benoit went 2-for-3 with a double.
Addison Tarr,
Chris Leavitt, and
Christian Hodge all batted 1-for-4.
Mark Gadaleta pitched four innings in his first career start and struck out three batters.
Drew McCormack came in relief and pitched three innings with two strikeouts.
Gordon will next play Springfield March 13 at 10 a.m. at Henley Field in Lakeland, Fla.
