LAKELAND, Fla. — Gordon played Springfield in their sixth game of the RussMatt Florida Invitational in a single game at Henley Field and batted .230 in its 14-1 loss.
The Pride (4-2-1) started off the game by scoring three runs in the top of the first inning. They scored three more runs in the top of the third to build the lead up to six runs with with three RBI singles. Mark Joao hit a solo home run in the fourth to make it 7-0. He followed that up with a three-RBI triple in the top of the fifth. They added another run in the fifth along with one in the sixth, and two in the seventh.
John Lagerfeldt had double as a pinch-hitter in the bottom of the seventh to drive in
Christian Hodge to put the Fighting Scots (1-6) on the board.
Daniel Quint, Hodge, and
Alec Willey all batted 1-for-3 and Willey had a triple in the bottom of the fifth.
Noah Henkell started the game, pitched three innings, and recorded three strikeouts.
Matt Moffat, Tim Oh, and
Jon Sensi combined to strike out three batters in four innings of relief.
Gordon next plays Keene State in a doubleheader tomorrow March 14 at 2:30 p.m. at Lake Myrtle Park.
