Falcons Fly Over Scots

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. — Gordon traveled to play Fitchburg State in their first game of their spring break trip at Ross Park and attempted 13 shots in its 16-5 loss.

The Falcons (3-0) scored four goals in the first ten minutes of the game for an early 4-0 lead. Olivia McCarrick put the Fighting Scots (2-4) on the board in the 11th minute with an unassisted goal. Fitchburg State scored two goals in a two-minute span to make it a 6-1 game. Hannah Bourk scored in the 21st minute to make it a four-goal game. The teams traded two goals apiece in the next eight minutes to put the Falcons up 8-4. They scored two more goals in the 1:14 of the half to make it a 10-4 game entering halftime.

In the second half, Fitchburg State scored six goals in the 16 minutes to build the lead up to 12 goals. In that span, they only allowed four shots with three being on goal. McCarrick scored her second goal of the game in the 55th minute off a pass from Katelyn Dyer. The Falcons held Gordon without a shot the rest of the game to seal the win.

McCarrick scored two goals, grabbed two ground balls, and recorded two draw controls. Bourk, Lena Larson, and Dyer all scored one goal. Dyer also led the team with seven draw controls and three ground balls.

Kaitlyn Ober recorded seven saves and faced 24 shots.

The Fighting Scots next play Kean in their second game in Florida March 15 at 9 a.m.
