Cougars Claw Scots

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. — Gordon played Kean in its second game in Florida at Carmalita Park and went 8-for-13 with clears in its 16-7 loss.

The Cougars (4-0) started the game by scoring seven goals in the first 11 minutes of action. Olivia McCarrick scored in the 12th minute for the Fighting Scots (2-5) to make it a 7-1 game. Paige Thompson scored off a pass from McCarrick three minutes later to cut the lead to five goals. Kean built the lead back up to seven goals with two goals in the next two minutes of action. Katelyn Dyer scored her first goal of the game in the 17th minute to make it a 9-3 game. The Cougars outscored Gordon 5-1 in the last 12 minutes of the half to take a 14-4 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Kean scored two goals in the first seven minutes of the half to build their lead up to 12 goals. They held the Fighting Scots to three goals the rest of the way to seal the win.

Dyer finished with three goals, two assists, and seven draw controls. McCarrick scored three goals and dished out one assist. Thompson scored one goal and had one assist. Hannah Bourk led the team with four
ground balls.

Kaitlyn Ober recorded six saves and faced 24 shots.

Gordon next travels back to Massachusetts to take on Salem State in non-conference play March 20 at 7 p.m.
