NEWTON, Mass. — Gordon traveled to play Mount Ida in its first game after spring break at Alumni Field and put 23 shots on goal in its 10-5 victory.
The Fighting Scots (3-3) started the game by scoring seven goals in the first 22 minutes of action.
Nick Palandjian scored three of those goals while
Nico Manganiello scored two,
Jason Dantona scored one, and
Austin Early scored one. The Mustangs (0-5) got on the board with 1:33 left in the first half with a goal by Kyle Ton to make it a 7-1 game at halftime.
In the second half, Mount Ida cut the lead to five goals with a goal by Erick Walker in the 32
nd minute. Palandjian scored his fourth goal of the game in the 40
th minute to give Gordon an 8-3 lead. They added two more goals and held the Mustangs to three goals in the last 9:22 of the game to seal the victory. Â
Palandjian and Manganiello both scored four goals and handed out one assist. Early scored two goals and handed out two assists.
Dan Arthur also dished out two assists.
Noah Johnson led the team with four ground balls.
Jay Gallipo recorded 12 saves and faced 29 shots.
The Fighting Scots next host Nichols in its Commonwealth Coast Conference opener March 24 at 3 p.m.
