WORCESTER, Mass. — Gordon traveled to play Dean in non-conference action at Granger Field on the campus of Clark University and recorded 12 hits in its 12-9 win.
The Fighting Scots (6-7) got on the board in the top of the first inning as
Daniel Quint singled to drive in
Alec Willey. Â The Bulldogs (5-9-1) tied the game in the bottom of the second off an error by the catcher. Gordon scored four runs in the top of the second to take a 5-1 lead off a sacrifice fly by
Joseph Mack, an RBI single by
Matt Moffat, a sacrifice fly by
Addison Tarr, and an RBI triple by Willey. Dean cut the lead to four runs with Will Kulcher scoring off an error by the pitcher in the bottom of the third.
Erik Gauer hit a two-RBI triple to right field in the top of the fourth to make it a 7-2 game. The Bulldogs scored six runs in the bottom of the fourth to take an 8-7 lead. The Fighting Scots responded by scoring five runs in the next three innings to create a 13-7 lead. They held Dean to one run in the bottom of the seventh and only allowed one hit in the last two innings to seal the win.
Willey went 2-for-5 with three RBIs, two runs, and two triples. Gauer batted 2-for-5 with two RBIs with one triple. Quint went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Noah Henkell picked up the win as he pitched 1.2 innings and struck out one batter.
Gordon next hosts Wentworth in their Commonwealth Coast Conference opener for a doubleheader March 31 at 2 p.m. at St. John's Prep in Danvers.
