NEWTON, Mass. — Gordon traveled to take on Lasell in non-conference action at Grellier Field and put 28 shots on goal in its 20-15 loss.
The Lasers (2-0) got on the board first with two goals in the first four minutes of the game.
Hannah Bourk put the Fighting Scots (2-2) on the board with an unassisted goal in the fifth minute. Lasell stretched the lead out to 5-1 with three goals in a three-minute span. Gordon responded by scoring four straight goals to tie the game at 5-5 with 17:03 left in the first half. The Lasers broke the game open by adding six straights goals to take a 11-5 lead.
Olivia McCarrick scored a goal off a pass from
Katelyn Dyer in the 25
th minute to make it 12-7. Lasell closed out the first half by scoring three goals in the last 4:30 to make it a 15-7 game at halftime.
Vanessa Pino scored three straight goals and Sam Taylor added another goal in the first seven and a half minutes of the second half to stretch the lead to 12 goals. The Fighting Scots were able to cut the lead down to five by scoring seven straight goals to make it a 19-14 game with 4:17 left. Lasell sealed the win with a goal by Kellie Matthews with 2:24 left.
McCarrick scored a season-high six goals, dished out two assists, and grabbed four ground balls. She also recorded a career-high nine draw controls.
Paige Thompson tied her career-high with four goals and also dished out two assists.
Katelyn Dyer scored three goals and was second on the team with seven draw controls.
Kaitlin Ober recorded five saves and faced 29 shots.
Gordon next travels to take on Smith College in non-conference play March 10 at 1 p.m.
