Scots March Past Cadets

WENHAM, Mass. — Gordon hosted Norwich in non-conference action at J. Tec White Field and recorded 11 hits in its 6-2 win.

The Fighting Scots (9-10) struck first in the bottom of the first inning as Christian Hodge reached first on a fielder's choice and Addison Tarr scored. Daniel Quint later drove in Hodge on a ground out to shortstop. They added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth as Erik hit a single down the right side to score Alec Willey and Quint grounded out first to drive in Hodge to make it a 4-0 game. In the bottom of the sixth, Matt Moffatt grounded out to the pitcher to drive in John Lagerfeldt. The Cadets (1-16) cut the lead to three runs as Chris Dayos scored off a wild pitch and Nate Gehringer grounded out shortstop to drive in Brady Doherty. Tarr singled to left field to drive in Lagerfeldt to stretch the lead back out to four runs. Norwich was able to put two runners on base in the top of the ninth with two outs, but Gordon forced a ground out on the next at-bat to seal the victory.

Tarr recorded a career-high four hits with one RBI and one run. Lagerfeldt batted 2-for-3 with two runs and a double. Alec Willey went 1-for-4 with one run, one walk, and a stolen base.

Noah Henkell picked up his second win of the season as he pitched five innings, allowed zero runs on three hits, and tied his career-high with three strikeouts. Drew McCormack and Jon Sensi combined to pitch four innings of relief and struck out four batters.

The Fighting Scots next travel to play No. 22 Endicott in Commonwealth Coast Conference action April 13 for a 2 p.m. doubleheader.
