WENHAM, Mass. — Gordon hosted Roger Williams in Commonwealth Coast Conference play at the Brigham Athletic Complex and won 12 draw controls in its 20-6 loss.
The Hawks (12-3, 7-1 CCC) started the game with four goals in the first six minutes of play for an early 4-0 lead.
Paige Thompson put the Fighting Scots (7-9, 4-3 CCC) on the board in the seventh minute to cut the lead to three goals. Roger Williams closed out the half by scoring ten straight goals to take a 14-1 lead at halftime.
In the second half, Gordon scored three goals in the first eight minutes to cut the lead to ten goals with two goals by
Katelyn Dyer and one goal by Thompson. The Hawks then scored three straight goals to make it a 17-4 game.
Olivia McCarrick scored two goals in the next three minutes to cut the deficit to 11 goals. Roger Williams scored three more goals and stopped the Fighting Scots from attempting a shot in the last five minutes to seal the win.
Dyer, McCarrick, and Thompson all scored two goals. Dyer also grabbed five ground balls and won three draw controls. McCarrick led the team with five draw controls and also had two ground balls.
McCarrick has 51 ground balls on the season which is sixth in school history for ground balls in a season. Dyer has 91 draw controls this season which is third in school history for season draw controls.
Kaitlyn Ober and
Rebecca Resnick combined for nine saves and faced 34 shots.
Gordon next travels to CCC opponent Western New England April 24 at 4 p.m. for its last regular season game.
